American Airlines Flight Attendant Named Longest Serving in History

BY ZACHARY LIDDY-DAVIS 07/16/2022 AGO 13 COMMENTS

Guinness World Records recently recognized Boston Woman Bette Nash as the Longest Serving and Most Senior Flight Attendant in History. Joining the Airline as a stewardess in 1957 (the same year as the first man-made satellite launch), Bette has served over 65 years with American Airlines, racking up thousands of miles.

At 86 years old, Bette continues to fly the New York - Boston - Washington D.C. shuttle route. When asked about why she sticks to that route, she said that likes to be home every night to take care of her disabled son. Bette can fly any route in the world, but she stays loyal to the Northeast.

Frequent flyers tend to remember Bette and praise her for her work. When asked if she had any advice for new Flight Attendants, Bette says: "To bring the human factor into [service] is the most important. Instead of technology, it's human-ology.” She goes on to say, “As long as I have my health and I'm able, why not work? It's still fun. Plus, I've at least made my Diamond Jubilee, just like Queen Elizabeth."
