Wizz Air's "Unlimited Flight Pass" is Only $550

Wizz Air's "Unlimited Flight Pass" is Only $550

BY RICHARD RAFALSKI Published on August 16, 2024 0 COMMENTS

WizzAir is a low-cost airline serving Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In recent years, the airline has struggled with on-time performance and has been named the worst airline for UK flight delays.

However, the airline is hoping to win back customers with it's latest deal, which is an all-you-can-fly annual pass being sold at a discounted price of £425 (~$550).

Similar to U.S. budget airline Frontier, there are a few hidden catches that travelers should be wary of if they want to give this deal a try.

The Deal And How It Works

Normally, Wizz Air sells their unlimited flight pass for £511 (~$650), meaning the current sale is only an 18% price reduction. For a pass that allows unlimited flights, this is a pretty neat offer. This limited offer will not last long. Wizz Air travelers looking to make their move on this deal have until August 16th before the sale ends.

In addition, Wizz Air is only selling 10,000 of these passes, so if that number is reached before Friday, the offer will end early. The airlines' all-you-can-fly pass will be valid for flights taken on or after September 25, 2024. Passengers who purchase this all-you-can-fly pass can book flights immediately. For those who might want to use a pass like this to travel within a single country, WizzAir also offers discounted passes for travelers who are willing to accept the restriction of domestic-only flights within the country of their choosing. These types of passes range from £30 to £55.

When it comes to booking travel, WizzAir customers can book any last-minute flight on Wizz that is within 3 days of departure, subject to availability and eligibility. This guarantees passengers a seat on the flight, with extras (such as bags) costing more.

Unlimited Flight Pass…With Some Caveats

The WizzAir flight pass does not come without its catches, and there are a few big ones to take note of. Firstly, there is an additional £10 (~$12) booking fee for every flight that the pass is used to book. Moreover, the all-you-can-fly pass covers the basic airfares only and does not include any additional carry-on or checked baggage. The only item included is a single personal item (max. size 40 x 30 x 20 cm).

In addition, the pass is subject to “flight availability and eligibility”, meaning it might be hard to find a flight on the right day and time that works for a pass holder. There is also a high chance that holidays or busy travel times will have blackout dates or times that limit what flights can be booked via the pass. Also, the pass has a 14-day grace period once initially bought. Once the 2-week grace period has passed, you cannot cancel the pass for the remainder of the 12-month subscription, and you are not eligible for a refund.

Summary

Overall, the big selling point of WizzAir's flight pass, despite limitations with add-ons and travel dates, is that the pass is being sold for a decent discount (and relatively low overall price). According to Wizz Air, this pass is a "one-of-a-kind" membership for travelers, and being the first airline in Europe to offer it, WizzAir hopes to regain some confidence from the flying public and increase its customer base.
