Delta Unveils Bold Plans for Summer 2025 at Its Atlanta Superhub

BY RICHARD RAFALSKI Published on October 05, 2024 0 COMMENTS

When people think of the phrase "Atlanta airport", many immediately think of Delta and their incredible presence at the airport. Well, this summer, Delta plans to not only reaffirm that position as Atlanta's hometown airline, but create the biggest schedule ever to be offered from the airline's fortress hub.

The Details

In summer of 2025, Delta plans to enact its largest ever schedule from the superhub, with 968 daily flights to 215 global destinations across the Delta network. Up 75 daily flights from the summer 2024 schedule, the increase of flights at Atlanta reaffirms Delta's place as the operator of the world's largest airline hub.

Internationally, Delta will now operate 66 routes from the ATL hub, including newly announced flights to Naples and Brussels. Destinations such as Athens, Rome, Zurich, Barcelona, Cancun, Toronto, Curacao and Barbados will also benefit from increased service compared to 2024.

Domestically, Delta highlights the 2025 schedule will be its largest inter-state network ever run. Destinations such as Savannah, Augusta, Albany, Valdosta, Brunswick and Columbus will see a seat increase of of 20% compared to last year. Outside of Georgia, enhanced service across the U.S. will give customers more options to travel, with 56 markets from Atlanta seeing 8 or more daily flights. This gives business travelers and families more options to travel where they want, when they want.

Premium Offerings

The increase of flights naturally results in an increase of premium offerings for customers out of Atlanta as well. Forecasted with a 9% increase year-over-year, summer 2025 will see a daily total 41,000 seats offered across Delta Comfort+, Delta Premium Select, First Class and Delta One.

Additionally, new aircraft deliveries and the retirement/repositioning of older regional aircraft will see an increase of daily mainline departures from the hub. In 2024, 79% of daily departures were on the Delta mainline fleet, with summer 2025 seeing 87% of departures on these aircraft.

ATL Customer Improvements

Hosting over 70% of the airport's total traffic in 2023, Delta remains the leading carrier in Atlanta, and it intends to improve the customer experience by next summer to make the Delta ATL experience even more enjoyable. As the multi-year airport modernization program wraps up in Atlanta, the latest changes seen for summer 2025 will be an expanded concourse D, which was the most cramped concourse of the airport pre-renovation.

In addition, a new Sky Club double the size of the current one will open as well, alleviating some of the recent issues of airline lounge overcapacity. All 9 existing Sky Clubs across the Atlanta operation will see renovations as well, further enhancing the customer experience in the before-flight aspect of the travel day.

Summary

Joe Miller, the VP of Airport Operations in Atlanta states, "Our growth and strength in Atlanta come from the dedication of Delta people who live our Brand Beliefs - Welcoming, Elevated, and Caring - every day. Our team's pride, unity, and relentless drive to improve are what truly make the Delta difference."

These commitments in conjunction with the announced schedule for next summer, along with Delta's leading stance as one of the biggest airlines on the globe, promise to create an airline hub experience unlike no other during the summer of 2025.
