Ethiopian Airlines is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the beginning of its UK service, which began in April 1973.
The airline's first Boeing 720-B flight landed at London Heathrow and initially operated two weekly flights. The flight initially flew via Cairo, Rome, and Frankfurt, and it offered First Class and Economy Class seating.
Ethiopian Completes 50 Years in the UK
Ethiopian Airlines operates non-stop A350 Airbus flights from London Heathrow (Terminal 2) to Addis Ababa on a daily basis.
Additionally, the airline offers 4 weekly B787 Dreamliner flights from Manchester (Terminal 2) to Addis Ababa. These flights transport more than 10,000 passengers every month and provide connections to over 60 destinations throughout Africa.
Mr. Mesfin Tasew, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, stated that the UK has always been a significant market for Ethiopian Airlines, as it is positioned as the Heart of Europe.
He mentioned that the airline's success in serving the UK with both passenger and freighter flights for 50 years demonstrates its commitment to the country.
Looking ahead, Mr. Tasew expressed his eagerness to expand the airline's services to the UK with more destinations and flights.

Ethiopian Airlines currently offers passenger and cargo services to over 150 domestic and international destinations, with a network of 21 cities in Europe.
