BY HADI AHMAD 10/25/2023 AGO 0 COMMENTS

American low-cost carrier JetBlue Airways has made headlines again, announcing the launch of two exciting new transatlantic destinations from next year.

Having experienced immense success with its existing transatlantic routes, JetBlue is tapping into markets heavily dominated by legacy carriers to increase competition and drive down fares.

Dublin and Edinburgh mark the fourth and fifth transatlantic markets JetBlue will serve, but technically, the fifth and sixth when we look at airports served. The airline serves both Gatwick and Heathrow Airports in London. However, both airports are combined under one "London" market umbrella.

JetBlue has found lots of success in the transatlantic market. It remains a solid competitor to legacy airlines on its routes to London, Paris, and newly-launched Amsterdam.

JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes said the following about his airline's newly-announced services:

"The success of our transatlantic service proves customers don't have to choose between great service and low fares and can have them both with our award-winning Mint and Core products. Our summer seasonal service to Dublin and Edinburgh will bring a new level of service and affordable fares to these markets that have been dominated by high-fare legacy carriers for decades."

Hayes further stated that JetBlue looks forward to introducing its trademark experience to business and leisure customers traveling to and from Ireland and Scotland this coming summer.

Onboard Experience

Its fleet of Airbus A321neo aircraft operates JetBlue's transatlantic flights. These feature a 20% increase in fuel efficiency and are among the most efficient aircraft operating transatlantic routes today. The A321neo features JetBlue's coveted Mint cabin with 16 Mint Suites and 144 Core Economy seats.

The Mint Suites feature fully lie-flat private suites with a sliding door, giving customers a unique "at home" feeling in the air. The onboard service includes meals curated by popular New York City-area restaurants.

Back in Core, JetBlue offers some of the most legroom in modern economy-class cabins. NYC-based restaurant DIG creates meals served in Core. Furthermore, passengers in all classes can access the internet for free via JetBlue's Fly-Fi and entertain themselves through the inflight entertainment monitors offered at every seat.

Growth in Paris

Having launched service between JFK and Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) this past summer, JetBlue has announced a further increase in flights to CDG. JetBlue will launch service from Boston to Paris effective April 3rd, 2024, and a second daily flight from JFK to Paris on June 20th.

The flights to Paris are specifically operated by JetBlue's A321neo "LR" (long-range) aircraft. These are unique in that they offer the range of a widebody jet with the ergonomics of a single-aisle plane.

JetBlue configures its A321neo LRs with a slightly different configuration to its A321neo. The LRs offer 24 Mint Suites and 114 Core seats. The standard of service provided onboard these aircraft is identical to that seen on JetBlue's other transatlantic flights.
