Everyone knows about Taylor Swift and would've listened to one of her songs at least once in a lifetime. The world star has millions of fans across the globe, which shows just how much her songs influence people worldwide.

A worldwide popstar this famous should also go on world tours, which she has been doing since 2009, starting with the Fearless Tour. Swift has since embarked on five more world tours, with The Eras Tour currently ongoing and ending in December 2024.

However, there have been recent waves of concern regarding her private jet use, which seems to the general public to be rather excessive. Following the hate, she consequently sold one of her private jets. In this article, we will look into what is causing all the hate and the details of Swift's sky chariots.

A Good Reason for Flying Private

Regarding transportation for VIPs, many try to maximize privacy and save time. Most achieve this by booking first-class tickets on a scheduled commercial flight, but people with more to spare can afford to fly privately.

This comes at a higher price than commercial flights (even in first class) but guarantees maximum privacy. Taylor Swift and many other celebrities, such as Post Malone, Tom Cruise, and Imagine Dragons, seem to prioritize privacy and time and are known for traveling on private jets worldwide.

But why is Taylor getting all the hate? Let's find out.

Taylor Swift's Private Air Ride

Taylor has had three private jets from the French jetliner manufacturer Dassault. Specifically, she had a Dassault Falcon 900 and a Dassault Falcon 7X. The Falcon 900 was registered as N898TS (with the TS possibly standing for Taylor Swift's initials), while the Falcon 7X was registered as N621MM.

She also had a little Dassault Falcon 50 jet with nine seats in 2012. She sold the aircraft before her private jet use became an issue in 2020 and donated the money to charity.

Taylor has been using the Falcon 900 since 2011 until recent times. She has used the Falcon 900 for her world tours and private use, while her team leased out the jet when it was not used by Swift (according to her representative).

In 2022, it was reported that this jet was used over 170 times in just seven months, though it is claimed that Taylor or her team only used some of these flights.

The said representative released the following statement regarding the extensive use of the jet:

"Taylor's jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. Attributing most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect."

While the Falcon 900 served as reliable transportation for Taylor, she bought another jet, a Falcon 7X registered as N621MM, in 2018. The Falcon 7X is an enhanced version of the Falcon 900, with a 20% longer fuselage and 48% extended range.

This gives the Falcon 7X a range of approximately 11000km, compared to the Falcon 900's 7400km. This was definitely an upgrade for Taylor, and she started favoring the Falcon 7X. Reports show that the 7X flew 15 times, and the 900 flew 6 times in October 2023.

After receiving the spotlight of her jet use in early 2024, Swift sold the Falcon 900, leaving her only with the Falcon 7X for use. The Falcon 900, N898TS, has since been owned by TRIANGLE REAL ESTATE LLC, based in Missouri.

Receiving Spotlight for Private Jet Use

On July 30th, 2022, Rolling Stone published an article exposing Swift's extensive private jet use. She was ranked #1 for the celebrity who emitted the most carbon dioxide and was condemned for doing so.

Swift's representative countered this by stating she was not the only one using her jets, as many staff used them and were also being leased to others while not used by Swift. However, in late 2023, it was revealed that she produced 8293 tons of Carbon just in the first half of 2023.

Taylor defended herself by stating that she purchased the appropriate carbon credits. However, her team warned Jack Sweeny, an American college student, that she would take legal action against him for tracking her private jets and posting those flights on social media.

Also, in early 2024, she was again in the spotlight for using her jet during her concerts and attending the Super Bowl simultaneously.

She had to make round-trip flights between Tokyo, where The Eras Tour was taking place, and Los Angeles to attend the Super Bowl.

Since then, numerous media outlets have reported on her excessive use of private jets again. This time, it has become a meme on social media, with people on Instagram and TikTok mocking Taylor for her jet use. Some Swifties (Taylor Fans) even expressed concern about her private jet usage.

Since then, she sold her first private jet, the Falcon 900 registered N898TS, in February 2024. She is keeping her Falcon 7X, N621MM, and numerous internet entities, such as Reddit, are tracking it.

Is Taylor Swift the only problem here?

It might be somewhat unfair to Swift, as many celebrities use private jets worldwide. This is a problem of celebrities in general, not only Taylor Swift. As mentioned before, Tom Cruise, Post Malone, and many others also use private jets.

With the increasing number of private jet flights, management companies and labels should look for alternate transport methods while maximizing security. Flying on scheduled commercial flights is a great way to reduce carbon emissions, and well-known celebrities such as Aespa and Billie Eilish can be seen doing so.
