Top 5 Last-Minute Christmas Gift Ideas for Frequent Flyers

BY JACK TURNER December 24, 2023 0 COMMENTS

As Christmas fast approaches for those around the world, you might still find yourself frantically wondering what to get someone. Many of you may also know someone in your life who happens to be a frequent flyer, which, fortunately, opens up a host of gift ideas. In this article, we'll list the top 5 best gift ideas (in no particular order) for those in your life who spend more time than most in the sky.

1. Apple AirTags

AirTags are one of those gifts that are always perennially useful yet still somehow not fully in the mainstream. While only available to those with Apple products, AirTags are incredibly useful for tracking both luggage and personal items. Checked luggage can frequently get lost, so it goes without saying how useful AirTags would be for someone who is always having to take luggage onto a flight.

2. Portable Battery

Planes these days can often be hit or miss with the number of outlets they have onboard. Some only have outlets in business class, some have none at all, and some only have one or two per row, which can make charging devices a challenge. Having a portable battery, though, can solve all charging problems. Best of all, portable batteries are often quite affordable, with even some higher-quality packs going for as low as $50.

3. Noise Cancelling Headphones

Chances are the person you're buying for already has noise-canceling headphones or earbuds if they spend quite a bit of time on a plane. But if not, these are an absolute necessity. Plane noise, not to mention the noise from other passengers, is a perennial challenge and can make it difficult to sleep adequately. Fear no more.

Some noise-canceling headphones from brands like Bose and Sony in particular have continually ramped up their noise-canceling technology to extreme levels, and with a quality pair of noise-canceling headphones, the frequent flyer in your life will have no trouble disconnecting from the rest of the passengers onboard for sleep, movie watching, or other entertainment.

4. Airline Amenity Kit

If you fly on any long-haul business class flight these days, chances are you'll receive an amenity kit. Maybe you have extras that you don't need, or the person you are buying for doesn't fly in business class very often, but these are quite useful for providing items necessary to sleep and preserve hygiene on a flight. Many business class amenity kits come with high-quality eye masks, as well as other toiletry items.

Even if you aren't able to find an amenity kit online, an assembly of toiletry items will certainly please the frequent flyer in your life.

5. Bluetooth Transmitter/Receptor

To close off the list we're including another important technological item, but one that shouldn't be overlooked. With United being the sole exception, most Bluetooth earbuds don't connect to any entertainment system on aircraft, so having a transmitter/receptor can be useful to allow users to listen to seatback entertainment with their own earbuds instead of a cheap plastic pair. It's a win-win: airlines can use less plastic and the frequent flyer in your life can use a preferred pair of earbuds.
