WestJet has announced a new interior overhaul on its Boeing 737 aircraft, offering customers additional comfort, a higher-end design, and faster Wi-Fi. The company states the retrofit project will be completed by late 2025.

WestJet's updated 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft will feature a new premium cabin, sporting 12 reclining seats in a 2-2 configuration, the same recliner seats used on the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Compared to standard economy seating, these recliners come with adjustable headrests and additional padding.

Behind Premium will be another Extended Comfort compartment, consisting of 36 seats with more leg space and a bulkhead. This section is available for passengers wanting extra space without paying the full Premium fare.
Economy class is also getting an upgrade. Although the seats do not recline, they will be thinner, allowing for more space between rows. All economy class seats will also have USB-A and USB-C ports, personal device trays, and added cushioning.

Passengers will also benefit from upgrades throughout the cabin, ranging from new restrooms and galleys to a soft blue and gray interior color scheme drawing inspiration from the Canadian Rockies. Lighting is LED-based, giving the cabin a contemporary, calming look.
The Wi-Fi is also getting an upgrade. The airline is launching high-speed internet powered by TELUS on these aircraft. WestJet Rewards members will be able to use it for free; non-members can pay to stay connected for streaming and messaging.

WestJet began testing the new configuration in mid-2025, and plans to complete all 43 retrofits by the end of next year.
Passengers flying across Canada or to the U.S. and Caribbean will start seeing this new cabin soon. It's a quiet but welcome change, a nod to WestJet's hospitality, even at 30,000 feet.
